Peter Steinbach studierte E-Bass und Kontrabass an der Jazz & Rock Schule in Freiburg (jetzt: International Music College Freiburg) bei Bernd Heitzler von 1999 bis 2004. Außerdem nahm er am International Association of Schools of Jazz-Meeting 2001 (IASJ) in Boston / USA unter Leitung von David Liebman teil. Unterricht, Workshops und Masterclasses bei Todd Coolman, Martin Wind, Frans van der Hoeven, Rogerio Botter Maio und Frank Sikora. Im August 2004 wurde er neben John Stowell und Hideaki Tokunaga als Workshopdozent zum Indonesia Open Jazz nach Jakarta eingeladen. Peter Steinbach studied both electric and acoustic bass under the guidance of Bernd Heitzler at the Jazz & Rock Schule in Freiburg (now: International Music College Freiburg) from 1999 to 2004. Additionally, he has participated in the International Association of Schools of Jazz 2001 (IASJ) in Boston / USA under the direction of David Liebman, as well as workshops and masterclasses with Todd Coolman, Martin Wind, Frans van der Hoeven, Rogerio Botter Maio and Frank Sikora. In August 2004 he was invited to the Indonesia Open Jazz Festival along with John Stowell and Hideaki Tokunaga to lead workshops and perform.
